  3. yikes

Oh God, Rob Delaney’s stand up on Kimmel tonight bombed. Where was the crickets sound-effect when we needed it? I was thinking maybe his style is unconventional (like Norm) but I looked him up and that’s not the case. It does say that his comedy is pretty vulgar, so maybe he really didn’t have any quality jokes for the tv audience. He’s better known for comedic tweeting, so there’s that.

  4. Ferguson>Kimmel>Conan>Fallon>Leno>Letterman

Ferguson reminds me of pre-tonight show Conan when Triumph, Chuck Norris lever, and the Finland bits were at their peak. He’s definitely the most edgy out of the late night circuits (though I rarely watch Chelsea Lately I imagine she’s comparably vulgar). Kimmel’s monologue is pretty funny and his skits aren’t bad. He’s not incredibly quick, but at least he’s likable (the “Jimmy Kimmel Sucks” episode with Matt Damon was great!). Conan also appeals to younger audiences but I think people are over his quirkiness and humor style (poking fun at himself after every monologue joke). I think his videogame review bits are hilarious though. I just don’t like his transition from the dark, low budget feel of Late Night to bright and polished show he has now. I’m happy for his success and everything, but I just thought he more fun to watch mid 2000s. Fallon’s gotten better than his SNL days, but I just don’t think he’s wacky enough to fill that 12:30 time slot. Leno is decent given his older audience though the bits are pretty safe and formulaic. But Letterman is truly horrendous. Maybe I just don’t get the top 10. The senile banter that goes on is just plain confusing. I know he’s been on forever (which is obvious from the IDGAF attitude) but I wish someone would just replace him already.
